| What's the difference between the Type 1 FAL
Receiver and the Type 3 FAL Receiver?
The Type 1 receivers are machined with
internal and external lightening cuts. This reduces the weight
(approx. 4 oz.) but
more importantly it looks like (along with its many contours) its original military
counterpart.
The Type 3 receivers, on the other hand, are machined without
the contours and lighteneing cuts. And as a result they have a "blockier" and "plainer" look. The Imbels from South
America are Type 3 receivers.
Thus the Type 1 and Type 3 receivers are aesthetically different yet
mechanically identical.
